Big news: Two new ways to tell better stories with your data 🎉

Ever since joining the Canva family back in 2022, we’ve been on a mission to empower everyone to tell better stories with data. Every day, seeing people around the world use our platform to turn data into a meaningful story – that informs, persuades, and connects – is what motivates us to keep building and improving.

But we also know that working with data isn’t always simple. For many, it feels intimidating, time-consuming, or just a little out of reach. That’s why, as part of this year’s Canva Create, we’re launching two exciting updates designed to make data storytelling faster, easier, and more intuitive for everyone:

• Start with data – the quickest way to go from data to story and get started in Flourish

• A refreshed Flourish app inside Canva – now with smoother, more powerful access to beautiful, interactive charts right where you design

Start with data: your story, just a few clicks away

Until now, creating charts in Flourish meant choosing a template first, then uploading your data to see how it fits. For experienced users, that worked just fine, but for many others – especially those new to data visualization – it can feel like a bit of a guessing game. “Is this the right chart type?”, “Does my data need reformatting?”, “Where do I even begin?”.

That’s where Start with data comes in.

From today, all you need to do is upload your dataset. Flourish will do the rest – using data pattern matching and scoring algorithms to analyze your data and suggest suitable chart types that fit its structure. It even handles some of the behind-the-scenes prep to make sure the templates work for your dataset – so you spend less time guessing, more time creating.

What this means for you:

• No need to know the “right” chart type before you start
• Basic data formatting happens automatically
• Preview suggested charts instantly
• Go from spreadsheet to shareable visualization in just a few clicks
• Custom branding applies automatically on business plans

A smoother Flourish experience inside Canva

We’ve also given the Flourish app in Canva a major glow up to make your experience simpler, faster, and more powerful. Available on Presenter plans and above, the app gives you a quicker access to your projects, right when you need them.

So whether you’re building a presentation, crafting a report, or designing a social post, you can easily bring data to life with interactive Flourish visualizations, all without breaking your Canva workflow.
